Winter Week 6 First the Worst

Hey, Leaders,

I know that in a series that goes from divorce to the vulnerable to finances some of you are probably thinking we are just trying to overwhelm you. Obviously, that is not the goal. In the midst of these hard topics I want to remind you of the opportunity we have. These topics can run very deep and connect to some strong emotions for people that often cause us to step back in group time in order to ease the tension. However, if we choose to be brave and instead lean into the challenge, push deeper, and ask the follow up question, then we can start to really get to places that are meaningful and actually matter.

Here is why that is so key: if you feel loved and accepted by your group but have never actually put on display the real you, then no matter how much love and support you get, it is still superficial because it is not the real you. It is the fake you that you present to others in order to receive acceptance. In moments such as these in our emotionally charged meetings we have a chance to dig down to the real stuff that really matters and allow ourselves and others to actually be vulnerable. Then, and really only then, can we start to feel loved the way Christ designed love to be, and then we will have groups that are creating life transformation.

All that to say, these weeks already push you into deeper waters, so instead of trying to ease the tension, paddle out into the deep and see what God has for you out there where you feel a little out of control and beyond your comfort zone.

Have a great week, Here are your resources.
