E-Teams
We do better together.
It’s a brand new year and we want to start out by setting our path and destination for 2021. One important path is Bible reading and prayer. We know it’s good for us, but sometimes getting that habit started and sustained can be challenging. Church on the Hill wants to build a place where we can encourage one another to keep going, and to dig in to God’s word on a regular basis.
We are creating Encouragement teams or E-teams with the goal of helping people meet their spiritual goals through group encouragement using WhatsApp groups.
WhatsApp is an app you’ll download from your phone’s App Store and it works a lot like texting. You can post a short video, or text a short thought or encouragement to a team of people that like you, want to start and continue reading their Bible this year.
Our E-Teams will be 6-12 people of the same gender and will last from January 17 through February 28. Of course, if you find your team really likes the encouragement-you can continue on beyond the 28th.
How it works:
Sign-up to be part of an Encouragement Group
COTH staff puts a team of 6-12 people into a WhatsApp Group on a first signed-up basis. I.e. the first 6-12 women that sign-up will be in a group.
The Team is started by a Church Staff person, with a welcome video to give expectations for the team.
Each person regularly (daily to three times a week) leaves a quick video or text message on the WhatsApp group.
The 10 to 30 second video can include one of these:
What you’re reading
What you’ve learned
How you’re going to apply it
Brief prayer request
Encouragement to others
Using WhatsApp you can reply to a text/video with encouragement/I’ll pray for you etc.
If a person does not comment regularly, that’s OK-they have decided that they don’t want to be involved. People aren’t going to be called out for non-participation. They may enjoy seeing what others are doing.
These teams work best when everybody participates-it truly becomes an Encouragement-Team.
That’s about it. If you’re interested in joining an E-team, sign up here. And we’ll get you set in a group by Tuesday, January 19 (if not sooner).
