UPDATE: Eleven of us went daily to a dumpsite community outside of Manila to serve with our missionaries, the Enguerras, and using our gifts and talents for the Lord.
For 8 days straight we taught 30-40 lay leaders 5x, 70-100 women 5x (bible lessons and crafts), and school children daily in science, math, health, and computers. We also led two chapel times, art and PE. On Sunday, our worship team led worship and we preached in three different churches, as well as led an adult Bible class and taught 100 teens about sexual abstinence.
We brought the 49 school children (that our church has sponsored for two years) some clothes, school supplies and toys and we raised funds for an AC unit for the computer lab and first aid kits for the classrooms. We also sent them 4 large boxes full of curriculum.
What a joy it was to meet them and love them! Thank you for supporting us prayerfully or financially and being a part of all the spiritual fruit from this trip!
Feb, 2018: For the first time ever, we are sending a GO Team to the Philippines, July 22-Aug. 4, to serve with our global partners, the Enguerras. For five years Resty and Mel have been serving the scavenger parents and children of the Payatas Dumpsite and now the informal dwellers in the Cupang Community, too. They find and provide scholarships so that the children can attend a Christian school and get a better education and spiritual knowledge/growth in Christ. They also empower the parents to help them regain back their dignity and self worth by teaching them Skills Development and giving Microfinance loans, and involving them in group bible studies and church activities.
Our GO team will help run student activities at the school (i.e., crafts, sports), the ministries' feeding program, the Microfinance program, and church outreaches.
You do not need to speak Tagalog to go; you just need a heart for people!
