Oasis High School Summer Camp 2020

Please Read this page as summer camp will look different this year and we want to be sure everyone knows what they are signing up for.

Hopefully this will answer most questions and give you the logistics that you are hoping for, but if not please feel free to contact me at jbecknall@churchonthehill.com

Location: Lakeport, Ca. at Clear lake in Northern Ca. staying at a lake house.

Dates: July 13th-18th

Transportation: Leaders driving vehicles with the students, carpooling to the house.

Cost: $450.00 for June sign ups, 475.00 for July sign ups

Safety Restrictions in response to Covid 19

Students will be required to wear a mask in the car for the ride there and back. Masks also may be required while inside in common areas.

Meals and as much prep as possible will be done and served outdoors.

Messages and large group meetings will be done outdoors.

Some students will be asked / allowed to sleep outside to help distance them.

We will require 5 days of temperature recordings prior to camp. This means every student going to camp needs to take their temperature on a digital thermometer every day, for 5 days before camp. A picture of each days thermometer recording needs to be sent to jbecknall@churchonthehill.com or will be uploaded to a specific file. All temperature recordings will need to be below 100.4 degrees.

Some restrictions may be increased or decreased depending on recommendations at the the time of the trip.

Changes for this year and also Q&A.

Why the change? The organization that hosts us on houseboats decided not to host camps this summer.

What if I pay and the trip is cancelled? You will get a full refund.

Why the price drop from last year? Thanks for noticing! The owner of the lake house is a friend and has graciously offered their home at a fraction of its value.

What will be different compared to houseboats? The main difference is that we will be at a lake house and not on house boats. Also we will be at Clear Lake instead of Lake Shasta.

Same - We will still have two boats and be out on the lake a whole lot. We will still be tubing, wakeboarding, playing in the water and mostly playing the same games we would at Shasta. We will still have group meetings and messages and we will still have small group times and opportunity for conversations.

Different - We will not have a staff there to support us so there will be more meal prep and clean up but the food will also be better quality. We will be on a shoreline with neighbors so we will have quite time restrictions and swimming from the dock will not be the same because the water at Clear Lake (at the dock) is not as clear and nice as it is at Shasta. We will have a yard to hangout and play in and also a dock with patio to sit out on. We will have showers and even bathrooms that do not smell like oven roasted poo… hopefully. We will have more space and some will even be able to sleep in beds instead of on a rooftop.

Will you be allowed to leave the house and dock area? There is no real town or anything else that would make leaving the house worth it and no you will not be leaving the house area (other than on boats) that way we can all spend time together as a group.

I know there are more rules this year and things are different and some are going to put a damper on things but I also believe this is going to be an incredible week that some of you will like even more than houseboats! We are going to have a great trip and God will amaze us as He always does!
